Young Readers Circle

Family guide

A calm way to support a younger reader without turning the story into homework.

Before reading

  • Preview the book for your own reader’s comfort level.
  • Explain that the story includes unsettling houses, imitation, identity fear, and supernatural danger.
  • Choose a pause signal. A reader may stop at any time.

During each room

  • Ask only one prompt if attention is limited.
  • Accept drawing, speaking, or private thinking as participation.
  • Do not require personal disclosure.

After reading

Use the Closing Room to discuss courage, memory, identity, and the difference between noticing fear and obeying it.
